The Lumberjack Games

Are you a true lumberjack? Find out!

The Lumberjack Games revives SFA traditions of old, allowing teams of any 4 people to compete in a variety of timbersports. Your team may be made of students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, or family. No experience is required, and we'll provide all the equipment you'll need!

The competition will be during homecoming on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10am - noon. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete the required SFA liability waiver form.

Each person gets to compete in tug-of-war and one other event. For example, one person on your team will do tug-of-war and axe throw, while another will do tug-of-war and caber toss. Our Sylvans club members will be on hand to coach you and help you practice each event. Wear clothes and shoes that will work for tug-of-war, and you'll be set for the other events.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top team, as well as a custom-made wood-burned trophy made from half a tree! Points will be awarded in the inverse order of the standings (e.g., if there are 6 teams, and you place first in axe throwing, your team gets 6 points). The team with the most points across all four events wins! If a tiebreaker is needed, the team with the fastest double buck time wins.

The cost is $10 per person.
